Overlooking the Mediterranean and the salt water lagoon of Leucate,
proudly standing against the hills of the Corbieres,
Fitou was built in a dry creek bed where it stretches its cultural and picturesque streets.
Fitou is an unspoilt village offering ample opportunity to sample it's famous wine in it's many village caves.
There are great restaurants, serving superb food and offering a unique French atmosphere. Close-by is a medieval chateau that has a museum, gift shop and bar where tapas are served.
The village also offers a supermarket, bakery, Post Office, newsagent and a doctors surgery.
There is a football stadium, a hard surface football/basketball court with a small climbing wall, a children's playground, a bouladrome and a tennis court.
During the summer months the village comes alive with regular music evenings outside the village bar plus the unforgettable annual wine fete at the beginning of August.
The village has numerous events throughout the year from concerts, wine festivals, antique fairs, to sardine barbecues and petanque competitions.
